In the far stretches of the world where water is hard to come by and electricity and refrigeration are even rarer, even basic survival is troublesome, nevermind a military operation. For just this reason, the US Army has just allotted a $750,000 grant to two University of Arizona researchers who have developed an improved gas turbine that produces electricity and water while providing refrigeration at the same time. The turbine operates about 5% more efficiently than conventional turbines and, by condensing the exhaust fumes, creates water. The refrigeration is provided via a heat exchanger that produces cool air. Why is it that the best inventions are created by the Army? Internet and now this, is it a necessity for us to be armed so that we can progress in technology? Does our evolution depend on the Army? Im very happy about this invention becaues it will change lives and very disappointed since it comes from the Army again.Via Gizmag

Inventors don’t think: “hey let me invent something for africans” because it won’t make them rich. If you invent something taht serves a military purpose you’ll make bank. Helping humanity comes after money. Money makes the world turn.
