It’s called an Infinity Receiver and has been around for decades, though at first used only with landlines. The device calls your phone to activate the mic but suppresses the ring so that you’re not alerted to the call. In cellphones, its a bit of the same.

But why pin it to the FBI? The Soviets loved the thing. There’s a few circulating the black market, an uncomfortable thought. Of course, in that time, intelligent people have invented defensive workarounds too.

Where do you guys get this stuff? There are PHYSICAL contacts that are broken in wired telephones that make what you are saying impossible. Kind of shoots down your credibility with me.

turn on airplane mode on your phone, that prevents any incoming or outgoing signals.

the fbi doesn’t have the funding, for this, if it’s being done it’s being done by either the navy, the cia or the nsa. these are currently the highest funded organizations with the mission, and the capability.
