# Terrafugia TF-X Flying Car May Hit the Skies and Road Next Year

The Terrafugia’s TF-X flying car was just approved for testing by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration).

 
The vehicle drives like a normal hybrid. Its wings are neatly folded in a compartment located above the rocker panels for easy parking. With a push of a button, however, they deploy in seconds while two electric motors linked to a pair of propellers join forces to generate a megawatt of power, enabling the car to take off vertically.
Complementing the electric motors, there is also a 300HP gasoline engine. Its propellers fold out of the way past a certain speed, and the thrust is generated by a large rear-mounted fan.
