Sol is World’s First Solar-Powered Laptop, Can Run for 10-Hours on a Single Charge

We introduce to you the first solar-powered laptop.

 

Sol is produced by WeWi Telecommunications Inc. It takes only 2 hours to charge and can run for up 10-hours without a problem.

The solar panels are can be folded out. The best part – these can be used in off-grid areas and countries where access to electricity is limited.

The $350 laptop features a 1.86GHz dual-core Intel Atom D2500 processor, 2GB of RAM (4GB maximum), a Seagate 320GB SATA HDD, GMA3600 integrated graphics, 3.0-megapixel webcam, and a 13.3-inch LCD screen. It also sports a USB port, HDMI, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, an audio jack and SD card expansion.

Although Sol is not the first solar-powered laptop in the world, it is the first one to claim 10 hours of battery life. Also, while other models have smaller panels, Sol has solar panels that completely cover its lid. It will cost only $350, while the waterproof edition will be available for $400. The device will be launched in Ghana, Africa, before it reaches Europe and the U.S.
