The documentary investigates gaming workshops in China that hire people to play online games like World of Warcraft and Lineage. The gaming workers play at least 12 hours a day to produce in-game currency, equipments and whole characters, which are sold to American players. Amazing and very sad to watch.

Very interesting. Sad? A little. I’ve seen other documentaries about the working conditions inside of China’s other industries, and playing games 12 hours a day doesn’t look nearly as bad. If you think about it, some Americans play games just as much, just because they want to. “It’s just like a College dorm room…”
First guy said it right. 5 million people pay to play this. These people get paid to play it AND room and board. It’s a little cramped yes.. But as prev guy said, I’ve seen college housing much worse than that.
Well, I wold love to have a job like that… im my country that is 🙂 Could play alot and get payed at the same time… Guess that there is a lot of bad work around, but this is not the case.
from the game player’s perpective, these chinese gil farmers get paid to ruin the economies of the servers that the people buying the gold play on. Its not fun when you work hard to earn your hot gear to get bragging rights when the other person bought their way into it with no effort at all. They mess the game up for the legitamate players playing the game, not to mention that every one of those workers is breaking the terms of service and will probably get banned repeatedly (and just get a new account, but still…) I just hate how their activities mess up the game- But I suppose I hate the people who create the market for this more than I hate the people doing the work.
People who bitch about farmers are barking up the wrong tree. Its the demand for the product they sell, the people that purchase their products. Their own ingenuity to tap that market and actually make a buck is something I for one admire. Your probably all just pissed they get paid to play games. Why don’t you all quit your jobs to play 12+ hours a day and try to get by?
I for one really really dislike (could easily be a muchmuch worse word) all those farmers. They ruin the game for all the paying players. They even act very unfriendly and selfish in an environment where cooperation and friendship should be the goal. And it’s illegal. So; for me as a gamer, I can say without the tinyest bit of bad conscience, that I fell no pity for these guys. Really not.
this is a very nice and great stuff.
