Lumenati CS1 is not like any other iPhone accessory.
It is a cinematic “smartcase” that “combine[s] the technological features of a digital device with the cool design, ergonomic ease and natural narrative that the lo-fi classic camera is known for.”
With its gun-style handle, you can hold it comfortably and turn recording on via the finger trigger. Once you release the trigger, recording is off.
And that’s not all. A hot-shoe mount accommodates external lights or a microphone.
Similar to a real vintage cinema camera, the lenses are designed to be interchangeable between wide, fisheye and telephoto styles and are compatible any standard 58mm auxiliary lens. The case itself also has an integrated viewfinder, which should be handy for filming in bright environments.
The CS1 basically routes the iPhone’s camera to the front using a set of mirrors, complete with auto image stabilization using the iPhone’s existing software. A video editing and sharing app will be available upon launch. The CS1 will set you back just $199 if you back their Kickstarter page.
