This is certainly not the first solar charger for cell phones but its probably the first one that is so affordable. Priced at $35USD you almost want to get stuck somewhere in the wild on purpose with a dead battery. As you can see in the image all you do is connect your phone to it and it charges. They even have a laptop version which is a little bigger. VIDEO->

Back around 1994 I sold some Motorola TelTac batteries that had a solar cell on the back. Your phone would recharge lying on a windowsill, on the dash of your car, or on top of your backpack. They were only about 5 or 10 dollars more than the plain battery.

I live in Arizona where the Sun shines 300+ days a year. I have experimented with Solar batteries. This is a great idea. I’m very much for solar power (how can you tax that?) Reading this, most of you wouldn’t believe that I’m a Republican (who is all for green without having much green)!
