Don’t actually use propane in a PVC gun, there’s a good chance your chamber will asplode. If you want to see some really interesting potato gun designs go to Spud Tech

It’s guys like these that give potato guns a bad name… These guns have an incredible amount of power and if you simply fire them in town, you can get arrested. Firing them in town, at people and their property is a perfect recipe for confiscation of your cannon and a healthy jail sentence. I’m not kidding when I say this. These things are not toys. Do not shoot at anything living, anything that is not your property, or fire ANYWHERE in town. Go out to the boonies to fire, and keep the hobby legal.

Also, thekeif4, it is perfectly safe to use propane in your cannon, so long as it is properly constructed.

I agree, go to http://www.spudtech.com and http://forums.spudtech.com/ and read the stuff there.

im still not convinced about putting anything in general thats flamable in an air tight tube i mean wat if the expanding gasses are in there when u light it and u get abnormally large spudd and it explodes in ur face… ow….

the guy with the 7.62mm is a jackass 1st off its a fucking potato it hits your roof or your yard big deal not gunna do any damage 2ndly the gas’s arent going to expand over the burst pressure of schedule 40 pvc (280 psi) hairspray/wd40/propane typically only creates 10-30psi of pressure

MAn this is so simple I made one of these but i used a less dangerious approuch I used Air Pressure. It was so cool i acutally made it for my 12 grade Physics class to shot a ping pong ball and ended up shooting a crap load of things from hot dogs to marbals to potatoes, and of course the ping pong ball. Well I made an A on that project and still have it to this day although i have modified it to shoot out 5 Paintballs at once. I am the back-end when we play paintball in my town.

pretty sweet gun, i live in the middle of nowhere in Ontario so theres no legal issues with me making these things, I’ve made at least 30, from shooting bbs to pumpkins, good fun, should be taken seriously though, I almost lost my pinky a few years back when a combustion chamber exploded in my hands.

I built a spud cannon.. These are great fun they sure break the days of bordom.. When they are used proper and not used to damage others property.. People will keep using the potato cannon in the wrong and the goverment will make them illegal to have and if caught face federal charges..Then those who weren’t doing any wrong will be punished too by not being allowed to even have a potato cannon of any type. Combustion or Air… So please if you build one keep the items being launched away from others homes propertys or what ever… Besides that sitting in jail is a waste of time when we could be shooting our cannons
