What is Aging?


Following our post on “Can we live forever?” here comes a cute animation about aging. When you think about that thousands of years ago we mostly lived until the age of 25 and that aging was not even part of the vocabulary, it makes you think a lot about your own future. What if we were not supposed to be this old? What if aging is us hacking into nature? What if we are not supposed to see a single gray hair during our lives?

Undoing aging: Aubrey de Grey

Aubrey de Grey is a biomedical gerontologist and the Chief Science Officer of SENS Foundation, a charity dedicated to combating the aging process. He is also Editor-in-Chief of Rejuvenation Research, the world’s highest-impact peer-reviewed journal focused on intervention in aging. His research targets the accumulating and eventually pathogenic molecular and cellular side-effects of metabolism that constitute mammalian aging and the design of interventions to repair or obviate them.


A Cure for Ageing?: David Sinclair

David Sinclair is a scientist and entrepreneur working on increasing human health, productivity, and lifespan. After co-discovering a molecular cause of aging at the Massachusetts Institute in Boston in the mid-1990s, he joined the faculty of Harvard Medical School where he is now a tenured Professor. In 2005, he founded the Glenn Laboratories for Aging Research at Harvard and serves as their Co-Director.
