Google’s “Spot” robot dog came soon after the BigDog. It’s not only smaller, but it is also more advanced and lifelike.
“Spot” is a 160-pound machine that can do everything – run, climb stairs, follow and carry a huge amount of weight. The dog is electrically powered and hydraulically actuated. It navigates over rough terrain and its surroundings via a sensor on its head. The controller of the robot is game-like.
The robot dog is designed to follow a soldier for 20-miles while carrying 400-pounds of their kit. If it is kicked or if it tips over, Spot can immediately stand back up.
