First of all, I didn’t even know that people are still playing Street Fighter 3. And second, Im still under shock knowing that people can cheer for this game as if it was a boxing match. I have to admit that the comeback made by the man controlling the charachter ”Ken” is very impressive. I wish I had that kind of skills when I used to play the first Street Fighter games 10 years ago. VIDEO ->
The amazing part of this video, when people start cheering, is when Chun Li does her super move and Ken (controlled by Daigo) parries every single one of her kicks. For those who don’t know, the parry in Street Fighter III is a very difficult defensive move, different from blocking, that requires the defender to tap TOWARDS the attacker at a very precise moment in time. Mis-timing a parry will result in taking full damage. However, a successful parry means you take ZERO damage (in contrast to blocking, which still results in some damage from special and super moves), and furthermore, you recover immediately, allowing you to counterattack while the opponent is still recovering. So in this situation, when Ken has very little health left, and Chun Li lunges at him with her super move, blocking would result in getting KO’d, and parrying was the only way to avoid getting KO’d. However, the degree of difficulty in parrying EVERY SINGLE ONE of her kicks is insane. For every kick that you see her throwing and Ken parrying with his fist, the player (Daigo) needed to tap TOWARDS his opponent at a very precise instant. It is almost unheard-of for a player to be able to perform this many consecutive parries, even with extensive practice. This is why the crowd went wild. The fact that Daigo then counterattacked with his own super move, which his opponent couldn’t have done anything about, to subsequently win the match, is just icing on the cake.
Thats very well explained Casai ! Now I really appriciate alot more what the player controlling Ken has done. It is indeed very insane. Massive Props !!
Thanks for the comment Casai 🙂
