This 3D display technology, developed by Burton, uses a laser to create luminous points of light at desired locations in air or underwater. In other words this is the first 3D display without any screens. We have seen previously 3D being shown on smoke and water droplets but this is the first of its kind where only light is used, probably what the sci-fi writers would call a hologram.
