U.S.A bought a space program from Yugoslavia, and ended up on the moon, except that the program didn’t really work. Josip Broz Tito was the socialist leader of Yugoslavia, the country that has been split and now called Slovenia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia. All of those countries combined were called Yugoslavia and not many people knew that they had a space program, not even the Yugoslavs knew. This is the story of how Tito sold his space program to J.F Kennedy to help America win the race to the Moon. America paid Yugoslavia 2.5 Billion dollars which was 50 Billion USD in that time. Unfortunately the space program was not complete and America asked it’s money back. This resulted in a loan that Yugoslavia couldn’t repay. With the pressure of America working to dismantle Yugoslavia, it resulted in the deadly Balkan wars of the 90’s. Watch the trailer first here.
